“Do More” Chair or Stool from Tan-Sad via Ahrend, in red. Ahrend was (is) one of the major office furniture manufacturers in the Netherlands and supplemented their offerings by importing innovative seating from Tan-Sad, based in Birmingham England. Tan-Sad, realising that employers didn’t care about their workers health, emphasised in their advertising that their products enabled workers to work longer and produce more, i.e. “DO MORE”, that a little back support goes a long way. “Scientific fatigue-reducing chair” was one of their slogans. Black enamelled steel tube swivel base on wheels; Seat is height adjustable, backrest is adjustable in height, depth (forward/back) and tilt (self-adjusting tilt function); Red upholstery is vintage but not original; Ergonomic industrial office/factory/shop task/work seating from the 20s/1920s/twenties; Typist and Machinist chair.
