A French folk art plinth/etagere – formed from used sewing spools which are stacked and supported internally with rods with both lower and higher tiered shelves.
The plinth form most probably dates from the 19th Century.
Befitting of interiors that blend pieces of different styles and ages and also those that harness the stripped-back, primitive, rustic, wabi-sabi aesthetic that is so on trend currently and embraces and helps us see natural beauty in imperfection. The piece has amazing patina that only time can create.
