The ”Bergeret” building is an art nouveau monument that draws many visitors from all over the world each year.
The chairs have superb floral details on the edges and look marvelous with the brown leather upholstery.
The large set of 8 chairs comes with a stunning matching table also designed by Eugène Vallin.
The table has a breathtaking Art Nouveau design and can be extended up to 3 meter 44 (135.43 inches) with the 4 extra table leaves.
The extra leaves are not finished and were covered with a large table cloth on special occasion dinners. As was very common for the time.
The ”Maison Bergeret” is a famous Art Nouveau école de Nancy project. The printer Albert Bergeret, known for the production of illustrated postcards, commissioned his family home to the architect Lucien Weissemburger. The greatest artists of the Ecole de Nancy collaborated there to give shape to a very successful example of Ecole de Nancy architecture: Louis Majorelle for the ironwork, Eugène Vallin for the joinery & furniture. Jacques Gruber and Joseph Janin for the stained glass windows And Victor Prouvé for the huge canvas painted on the hall ceiling. Creating a world famous building & interior that are a prime example of the Art Nouveau style.
These chairs are still displayed at the ”Maison Bergeret” making this a rare & museum quality dining room set with amazing history.
