Mid-Century Modern sideboard with drawers by Guiseppe Rivadossi, 1970s. Giuseppe Rivadossi, born in Monteclana di Nave, Italy in 1935, still resides and works there today. He began his artistic journey as a woodcarver, creating works that reflected his poetic ideas of life. In 1962, Rivadossi took over his father’s carpentry business, which he transformed into a creative workshop. Eventually, he and his collaborators established ‘Officina Rivadossi’ in 1976, where he began the production of wooden objects and unique modern furniture designs. Rivadossi’s designs were renowned for their modern and innovative qualities, and he utilized a variety of materials in his work. His furniture designs were created with functionality and aesthetics in mind, as he sought to create pieces that not only looked beautiful but were also practical for everyday use. His use of wood as a primary material allowed him to showcase his expertise in woodwork and his appreciation for the natural beauty of the material. Throughout his career, Rivadossi’s furniture designs and wooden objects were exhibited in galleries and museums around the world, cementing his status as a celebrated artist and designer. His legacy lives on, and his designs continue to inspire and captivate audiences to this day.
