Vintage Design
Couple bedside tables from the 70s, mirrored smoked glass top, brass beaded, three drawers with steel knobs. Italian production. Aldo Tura Italian designer, from the 50s, inspired by the movements of Art Deco and modernism, creates unique and prestigious furniture characterised by rich materials, sculptural shapes and exclusive techniques. Exotic materials such as parchment and goatskin, combined with bright shades of red, green and yellow characterise his art. Tura favours the use of complex shapes and techniques that are difficult to reproduce in a large-scale production to maintain the authenticity of its pieces. Inspired by Art Deco and modernism, Tura-style objects are always the result of a meticulous process, at the time not replicable in an industrial way, which is why the number of the designer’s pieces remains limited and highly sought after on the market, also for the typical colour combinations between materials and finishes that characterise them, often articulated on red, brass, a A portion of Tura’s furniture is on display in the permanent collection of the Brooklyn Museum in New York, after being exhibited in the grand exhibition that took place in the museum in 1950, ‘Italy at work: Her Renaissance in Design Today’.
