Bentwood stool from the end of the 19th or beginning of the 20th century by the company Jacob & Josef Kohn (Austria – Hungary). Kohn was the competitor company of Thonet, which temporarily merged with the Thonet company after the First World War in the wake of the global economic crisis. The piano stool is made of solid beech wood and has a seat made of curved plywood. The curved feet of the wide base are held together at the bottom by a wooden cross. The stool is very stable and can be adjusted in height from 46 cm to approx. 64 cm using a steel spindle. The spindle runs well, but has some play. The stool is stained brown (dark oak?) and the surfaces are painted with shellac. The stool has the original Kohn embossed stamp under the seat. The screws were tightened and the gluing of the seat was renewed. Some old worm infestation on the foot – see photo. Nice collector’s item in good overall condition.
