An unusual and interesting antique folkart blue glazed redware pottery jug or flask modeled as a man wearing a night gown and night cap dating from the 19th century. The jug has a slightly medieval king look about it and is hand crafted with a flask shaped body and with a pouring spout behind the head and with a carrying handle attached to the back. The man stands with looped arms to either side with his hands resting on his waist with the arms forming handles to allow the jug to be poured. The jug is hand decorated in streaked blue glazes and has an indistinct incised signature mark to the base possibly reading J Franz and while very much in the style of Charles Brannam and West Country pottery believe the figure is probably of German origin.
In good condition with a small glaze chip touched in to the base rim.
