1920s PAIR
GALLEON SHIP
BOOKENDS
This is a marvelous early 20th century pair of Galleon sculptured bookends! This pair were clearly designed to capture the romance of reading and how books took you on adventures now, the way galleons did centuries earlier. Bookends have long held a place in the hearts of educated men and women and the need for bookends was the sign of a learned and well read individual. Bookends often tied in to historical or inspirational themes. Sea travel was, in its day, the primary way to explore the world!
Today, in a sea of declining literacy, where even book shelves are becoming scarce, these items are even more treasured and heartwarming. This pair has clearly been well used and kept books in order for over a century!
The well read individual’s interior will be a perfect home for these age of adventure and “explorations through reading” galleon bookends!
