Gabbeh rugs are often simply patterned and not particularly detailed. However, these are the most famous nomadic carpets of Iran.
Gabbeh carpets are knotted by the nomads of the Ghashghai tribe in the province of Fars in Iran.
The basic material is hand-spun wool, which is then dyed with natural colors obtained from plants and minerals.
In Persian, Gabbeh means raw or natural. The perfect name for these nomadic rugs, whose design is normally limited to the essentials.
A simple plant or animal motif, such as camels or trees, is often found on the rug. These patterns are inspired by the daily life of the surrounding nomads.
On this amazing model, with a fantastic design, an Abstract Art carpet inspired by the work of Kandinsky entitled “Milieu Accompagné”.
This rug is indeed a Persian rug, made by an inspired artisan-artist !! Very beautiful polychromy.
