A very stylish English Arts & Crafts hand-crafted beaten copper plaque or dish with a heron attributed to renowned Cornish workshop Newlyn and dating from around 1900. The dish is hand crafted in a thick gauge copper with the heron standing one-legged in water to the centre of the dish within a simple line border. The dish has a hand hammered finish to the surface with a raised fold over rim. The surface has crudely applied red lacquering and has gained an excellent unpolished patina. The dish is not marked but of the quality and style of Newlyn workshops.
