Old Japanese cabinet with drawer dating from the Edo period (1603-1868).
Originally, the cabinet had a front. Inside there is a shelf that is removable. This piece of furniture is ideal for displaying something, such as a kokeshi or a small figurine.
The drawer at the bottom has a three-dimensional design. On either side are motifs of bamboo plants.
The embossed decorations on the edges were obtained by fine iron wire under the lacquer/resin coating.
The sides are covered with textile which was also treated with some kind of resin.
Because of its age and many signs of age, this cabinet has acquired a lot of charisma.
In our workshop, the cabinet was carefully treated and provided with a thin fixing varnish layer.
Dimensions: height 54 cm, width 34.5 cm and depth 25 cm.
